Grants for U.S. Schools, Students and Teachers The Global Studies Grant for Institution Program Development Targeted at accredited secondary and postsecondary institutions in the United States, this award provides funds for educational institutions to internationalize their curriculum or instruction, to deepen the institutional process of globalization, and to expand the array of offerings and support that institutions can offer their faculty and students in this process, particularly through workshops, seminars, speakers, and other faculty development programs. While all public and private schools at the secondary and postsecondary levels are eligible to apply, institutional need will be considered, with preference shown for those schools where such an award could substantially advance internationalization efforts. Other important selection criteria include program merit and outreach potential, including the applicability of the program to other institutions. To apply for this grant, please complete our online information form and submit the following materials prior to January 9, 2007: % A letter of application of no more than two pages that specifies the intended program and schedule, the target audience and likely participants, its outreach potential and applicability to other institutions, and how this specific grant can help make it possible; % An official letter of endorsement from an institutional authority confirming these plans and the institution's capacity and willingness to receive and process a grant for this purpose from another 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization. The Global Studies Grant for Student Travel and Study Abroad Designed to support foreign language training and other academic studies abroad, this grant provides supplemental funds for American students who already are studying abroad under the auspices of an official study abroad program conducted by an accredited academic institution. As with faculty grants, GSF seeks to support a formative experience abroad for the recipient, who also must share this experience with others upon his or her return ideally, with multiple audiences and varied media. We are particularly interested in funding the study of strategically significant countries and languages. Applicants must be US citizens and currently enrolled full-time and in good academic standing in an accredited secondary or postsecondary institution. Among the most significant selection criteria are academic performance (as indicated in courses, grades, recommendations, and other achievements), program merit, outreach potential, and financial need.
