| HOW TO HOST
It's simple to participate.
Nacel offers many opportunities to host, choose the one that meets your interests best:
- Academic Semester and Year-Long Programs
- Short-Term Summer and Group Stay Programs
Our students have their own spending money, medical insurance, local and state representatives as well as the support of an experienced group of individuals in the National Office who are available 24/7 if the need arises. The host families we are seeking are everyday families, who are willing to share their lives, hearts and home to a foreign high school student. We also are looking for families who are financially stable so that the additional family member does not create a burden on the family.
As a host family, you are asked to provide room and board and loving parental guidance. Our local representative is there to work as a liaison between you, the student, school and our National Office; all working together to allow you to have an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
Getting Started
The first step to hosting a student is to complete our Online Application. Once received and reviewed, a local representative will contact you to finish the application and screening process and will also present you with our students for you to select the one who best meets your families interests and needs.
The screening process is a government regulated process which requires a criminal background check of family members over the age of 18 and home visit to ensure that the student will be safe and secure. Students can share a room with another teenager of the same sex, but they must have their own bed. The standards which have been established ensure that every student is living within a home we would each be happy our own children were living in if studying abroad for one year.
After completing the application process and you have chosen a student, our local representative will obtain school approval for our student to attend school and then we will send your information to our partner to complete your match.
Families report to us that the first telephone call to their student is truly an exciting and interesting event. It’s important to view our student as a family member as early as possible. Can you imagine the impact that you will have on this person’s life through this experience?
