International Private School Program
HOSTING A STUDENT
Nacel Open Door offers an opportunity for your family to make a difference in the world by hosting an international student. Our students are 13 -18 years old, and full time students at U.S. Private Schools. Not only can you learn first-hand about another culture, but you can also help a student learn about American culture through experiencing life with an American family and attending an American private high school.
WHO CAN HOST?
Host families come in all shapes and sizes. Couples, Families with teens and children, Single parents, and Single Adult hosts are all welcome to apply! As a host family, you are asked to provide room and board and loving, parental guidance to your student. A Local Representative is there to work as a liaison between you, the student, the school and Nacel Open Door, all working together to help you to have a smooth transition and worthwhile experience. Above all, families should be prepared to welcome a foreign student as a member of the family.
SCREENING PROCESS
Nacel Open Door is a program committed to each student's safety and well-being. We have a full listing with the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET) and strive to meet the industry's standards of best practice. To ensure that each student is placed in a safe and appropriate home, IPSP requires a criminal background check of all family members age 18 or older, an in-depth application, and an in-home visit and interview, along with host family re commendations.
We are confident that our families would want the same attention given to the screening process if they were to send their child abroad for an extended period of time.
HOST FAMILY APPLICATION
If you think your family might want to host an International Private School Program student, the first step is to complete our Host Family Application. Completing the host family application is NOT a commitment to host nor a guarantee to receive a student. It is simply the first step in the process, and it enables us to put you in contact with a local representative if you are not yet working with someone. |
