Short Term Programs at St. Paul Prep

Summer School Program at SPP

St. Paul Preparatory School provides advanced students an intensive for-credit summer school option. Our Summer School Program is for high school students interested in receiving course credit toward the Nacel International School System’s graduation requirements. Due to the extensive class hours required (60 hours of classroom instruction = 1 course credit), the program consists of two high school courses divided between a 8:30a.m. – 3:30p.m. school day, Monday through Friday.

There are a total of six hours of academic instruction per day, five days a week, for four weeks. The first course of study is scheduled in the morning hours, the second in the afternoon hours. The group can select two courses from St. Paul Preparatory School’s regular course offerings, with the expectation that students meet the academic and language requirements needed for successful completion of the coursework.

Due to the intensity of this program and the class hours required for credit, two course related half-day field trips are scheduled, but additional activities are not. Field trips will reflect the course content administered, as the time counts toward course credit hours. For example, if Course #1 is American Government, students may go on a field trip to the Minnesota State Capitol and St. Paul City Hall. If Course #2 is Speech, students may go on a field trip linked to a Speech topic provided by the teacher, or Minnesota Public Radio. These field trips must be related to the courses scheduled, therefore they will be decided based on the course selections made by the group.
